The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme is a government-funded initiative that provides eligible children and young people with access to healthly meals during activities in the school holidays.

Funded by the Department for Education and delivered by your local authority in Stafford, the programme supports children’s wellbeing by providing tasty and nutrious food with fun, and engaging and physical activities.

The HAF Programme offers up to 16 free sessions per child annually aged between 4 and 16 during school holidays who are eligble for free school meals. Many local authorities also extends this further to children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or children in care or vulnerable young people.

HAF sesssions typically run for 4 hours a day, during the school holidays period, allowing a safe, and supportive environment where children can participate in arts and crafts during HAF and also stay active.

The HAF programme is open to families who’ve got kids receiving benefits-related free school meals. The funding for all this comes from the local authorities. Schools, charities, community groups and activity providers can put in an application through Stafford City Council or team up with one of our approved partners to make it happen.
